Joanne Chen, founder of Fieldnotes Architects, is a licensed architect in New York. She has professional experience from numerous international practices including: Bjarke Ingels Group, Office for Metropolitan Architecture, MAD Architects, and Sou Fujimoto Architects. Her work experiences had taken her to New York City, Tokyo, Beijing and now Nantou, Taiwan.
Joanne holds her master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and her bachelor of science in design and environmental analysis from Cornell University.
In 2021 she relocated from New York City to Taiwan to build a home for her family, and she has since established her practice in the beautiful landscape of Nantou, Taiwan. She is currently working on a glamping resort also in Nantou, scheduled to open in late 2025.
